Rarely engages in conversation unless there's coin to be had.
Mercenary
If there’s no reward, there’s no reason to get involved. He didn't make it this far on promises alone.
Prejudiced
The Wildwood and the Wood Wailers are pursuing him. They tarnished his heritage. He always has second thoughts before doing business with one of their kind.
Cunning Survivor
He spent his early years learning how to hide; how to steal; how to run. He is always with an abundance of caution, lest he get caught again.
Appearance
Skin
He has dark ashen-gray skin, marked by shadowed undertones; an evident sign of his culture and reclusiveness in caves and ruins of the Shroud.
Eyes
Crimson irises that linger with unnerving focus, as though weighing worth with every glance.
Hair
White, medium length hair ending in ebon tips; often half-shadowed behind a mask.
Apparel
Garbed in simple leather, dyed black so as to disappear with ease into the shadows of the dark.
Armaments
A pair of wood-hilted daggers worn low; he never lets them leave his side due to his untrusting nature.
History
Silent Arbor
Tozu was abandoned as an infant to the Redbelly bandits by his own parents, who could not afford to raise him themselves. The Redbelly clan raised Tozu in their ways; pilfering, stealing, and poaching. It is in this tenet of society that Tozu had learned his ways, and precisely what got him into trouble.
The Quarrymill Job
In his recent past, he was put on a mission to tail an escort from Gridania, heading towards the city of Ul'Dah. He was almost successful in trying to secure a locked coffer supposedly filled with jewels, coins, and trinkets. He was caught by one of the merchant guards who soon called out to a nearby Wood Wailer brigade that had been scouting in the Shroud. He ran; ran through the thicket of trees all the way through the dusty plains of Thanalan, avoiding settlements and villages alike until he arrived at Ul'Dah; the very same city the merchants were heading.
Present Day
Tozu believed he would be momentarily safe in the city. With the numerous darkened alleyways and unscrupulous folks that blended into the populace, he felt he could become a shadow among many others. He now spends his time hiding in plain sight, hoping to earn a living off mercenary work, or through using his set of talents.
How to Use in RP
Coin-First Jobs
A duskwight thief by heritage; his priority is to continue earning coin to keep himself alive and well and will do any sort of job to gain it.
Duskwight Stigma
He has been pursued by Gridanian merchant guards and Wood Wailers both. He has bitter resentment to the Wildwood clan even though he plays right into the derisive stereotype of his own clan.
Reluctant Ally
Tozu natively holds firm in his distrust of anyone else; even those with coin. It takes an enormous amount of familiarity with those he deals in business with to build trust and in them. Regardless, even through familiar faces, he will never drop his cautiousness; for one may never know when his pursuers find him.
Ul'dahn Underworld
He has been in the city for around a year. He has made dealings in dark alleys and performed jobs of all sorts of unsavory types. He knows that sometimes it takes spending some coin to earn even more.
RP Hooks
Outlaw Reputation
Some folks from Gridania and the South Shroud may have knowledge about his altercation near Quarrymill. He's hoping his past doesn't come to haunt him.
Glimmer of Mercy
Being a thief and brigand does not mean he holds no moral compass. He knows that in the end, if he helps the right person, it may pay more than any amount of gold or jewels.
Redbelly Ties
His experience robbing, stealing, and poaching with the Redbelly gang of the Shroud helped develop an understanding of hiding spots, traveller routes and a basic understanding of the worth and value of the goods he steals.
Debt & Dagger
Tozu prefers any job that keeps his coinpurse heavy and his past far away from him. He prefers to avoid having to return to certain parts of the Shroud, but will do it if the pay is worth the effort.
Hire Tozu
Contact
You reach out to me either directly or via a message with your job, location, payment. Depending on the job, I may ask for payment up front.
Location
I never discuss underground business around prying ears and never with anyone that might attract attention due to gaudy or flamboyant garb. If the task goes beneath the measure of the law, we will move to a secluded area to continue.
Other Scenes
While I prefer to handle jobs and contracts, I may be convinced to also perform bodyguard or mercenary work.
Payment
We will discuss payment terms upon agreement to the task that you need completed. I typically prefer a bit of heft to my coinpurse before setting out to work, but can be piqued to adjust if for the right reason.
Contact While I prefer a message directly to me with a job or a contract; I do not mind you directly approaching me. Tozu may be found typically lurking in the alleyways near the Quicksand.
Availability Afternoons through Evenings (GMT -6 / CST). Slow-burn scenes preferred. Can dedicate an entire evening should the roleplay go for that length.
Boundaries Prefer grounded, lore-accurate scenes that he can help build my character upon. Utility of Tozu's past and creativity to build the future is favorable. Not against storyline development through past and futures of each character.
Tone I usually set my roleplaying tone to contain elements of paranoia, selfish greed and trust issues. As trust is built you should expect to see the more personable and honest aspect of Tozu become apparent.
Future Potential Preference to see if the interested roleplayer has desire to continue another scene in the future. Tozu may grow an appetite to continue business if the reward is right.
